Amplified Opportunity: How the Amplify Scholarship Helped One Grow

Last year, Kirsten Ibarra, with Ames Construction, was selected as the recipient of the Amplify Scholarship, an opportunity designed to support emerging AEC marketing and business development professionals by making attendance at the Amplify Conference more accessible. As the 2025 scholarship winner, Kirsten was able to attend Amplify in Columbus, Ohio, experiencing the conference, the city, and the broader SMPS community for the first time. Below, she shares her reflections on how the scholarship helped expand her network, deepen her industry knowledge, and support her professional growth.
As the 2025 Amplify Scholarship recipient, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Amplify Conference in Columbus, Ohio—my first time at both the event and the city. This scholarship made it possible for me to explore this new experience and connect with SMPS members from across the country.
The conference offered a wealth of learning opportunities, from inspiring keynote speakers to engaging breakout sessions covering topics like marketing, business development, and proposals. With so many great sessions, it was both exciting and challenging to choose which ones to attend! I especially enjoyed the hands-on workshops and the chance to share, connect, and collaborate with fellow SMPS members and AEC professionals.
Overall, this experience was not only an excellent networking opportunity but also a significant step in my professional growth. I’m grateful for the Amplify Scholarship and the chance to learn, grow, and bring new ideas back to my work.
