Anthony "AJ" Jeffers, CM-LEAN | Director of Project Development | Hensel Phelps

Anthony is a fourth-generation native of Arizona. He grew up in Tucson, but his family hails from Bisbee. He was raised in a disciplined military (Army – Hooah) and religious family. He is an electrician by trade and entered the construction industry through his former high school basketball coach and mentor, Ken Slade. He has worked as an electrician, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Superintendent, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Director, and Vice President over his 35-year career. Anthony has been Hensel Phelps’ Director of Project Development for the Southwest Region, focused on client and project growth strategies for the last 10 years. He has been influential in leading consistent growth for Hensel Phelps in the Phoenix office, sustaining eight hundred million in annual revenue over the last decade.

Anthony holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Phoenix, an MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University with a focus on international business management, and a master’s degree in construction management from ASU Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering. Anthony has served as the former President of the ASU Del E. Webb School of Construction Industry Executive Advisory Board. He has been very active in industry associations such as the Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA). He obtained his CM-Lean certification in 2016 through the ABA/AGC and is a certified CM-Lean Instructor. Anthony is also a graduate of the 2022 Senior Executive Program with the ABA. He is currently a Board member of the Academy for Construction Excellence and is an instructor on leadership and management.
